From trade coffee to weekends at the park, an increasingly international Chamber
Business meetings traditionally start with some coffee. And even though we are not able to offer a coffee cup to the reader through this article, the best way to start reading this text is by talking about the most famous of the Brazilian beans. Coffee, however, is just one of several attractions that Brazilians and Canadians have tasted and can still taste in September in Canada: from integration activities for the Brazilian community at the Berge des Coursiers Park in Montreal to business opportunities at the sixth edition of the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Mission.
All of these activities are part of CCBC’s international expansion project. Before opening a fixed office in Canadian territory last year, the institution was already performing several actions in the country. The difference now lies in the even closer relationship with partners and the greater support that the Chamber offers to companies.

6th Brazilian Specialty Coffee Mission – September 21 to 26
The mission dedicated to coffee will be attended by Brazilian exporters at a booth at the Canadian Coffee & Tea Show (the industry’s main event in the country) and business roundtables in Toronto and Calgary, with a space for product presentations and trade meetings. In 2018, Canada was the seventh-largest importer of Brazilian coffee. The local market is expected to grow 3% per year between 2019 and 2022.
Doing Arbitration in SP
With the opening of the Consulate-General of Brazil in Montreal, the event provided an overview of arbitration and the sector best practices in Brazil. Carlos Suplicy de Figueiredo Forbes, the former chairman of CAM-CCBC (2015-2019) and permanent member of the institution’s Advisory Board, Dan Kraft, University of Montreal Professor, specialist in Business Law and Comparative Banking Law, and Carlos Alberto Carmona, Professor and Ph.D. in Civil Procedure Law at USP Law School and Permanent Professor of Civil Procedure Law at the Law School of Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, all attended the event. Camping in the Berge des Coursiers Park
In partnership with Parcs Canada, Canada’s national parks association, and the Brazilian Consulate in Montreal, CCBC hosted a weekend camping trip at the Berge des Cousiers Park. The event was filled with several activities such as jiu-jitsu, capoeira, forró, canoe trip, and storytelling classes. (August 31 to September 1)

The event organized by CCBC in Montreal provided an overview of arbitration and the sector best practices in Brazil on September 4.
Carlos Suplicy de Figueiredo Forbes, the former chairman of CAM-CCBC (2015-2019) and permanent member of the institution’s Advisory Board, and Carlos Alberto Carmona, professor and Ph.D. in Civil Procedure Law at USP Law School and Permanent Professor of Civil Procedure Law at the Law School of Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie, both attended the event.
The opening was held by Rubens Gama, the Consul-General of Brazil in Montreal; Canadian citizen Louise Otis, judge, mediator, arbitrator, and professor at McGill University, and Dan Kraft, a professor at the University of Montreal.

CCBC Committee meeting at the City Council office in Montreal, where issues related to the political, economic, and commercial environment of Brazil and Canada are discussed, with the participation of representatives of the Brazilian Consulate, the local government and CCBC partners in the region.
