Fonseca Brasil Advogados (Fonseca Brasil Law Firm) has established a partnership with the information technology (IT) company Alfasys to develop a multidisciplinary and deep technical approach to the issues involving the compliance of companies with Lei Geral de Proteção de Dados (LGPD) (Brazilian General Law of Data Protection), the Law no. 13.709/2018. The intention of the effort is to support the great challenge of implementing the new rules in companies of all economic segments and levels of activity, which demands both technical knowledge in information security as well as in the legal area, and the involvement of other corporate departments.

Since October, the actions taken together have been contemplating a series of visits and lectures to the office’s current customers and other market players in different branches, such as department stores, hospitals, clinics, schools, construction companies, mining companies, and industries. With the better understanding of LGPD’s impacts, which now sees data security and protection as a new horizon for corporate governance, the demand for this compliance is growing exponentially. However, solutions are never standardized, but always customized, demanding a greater or lesser legal and/or technological intervention. LGPD imposes a revision of long-established corporate practices, with the implementation of solutions that, at least in time, mitigate current risks and have a prospective orientation, considering the entire life cycle of the data and the necessary actions in face of any eventuality.
